students selecting good fit books

[Ceres CA, January 2024] — Caswell Dual Language Academy is proud to announce outstanding academic achievements and progress, demonstrating the dedication and resilience of our students, families, teachers, and staff.

In a recent assessment milestone, our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders participated in a practice test mirroring the end-of-the-year state assessment known as the SBAC. Ceres Unified School District sets specific goals for each grade level across all school sites, and we are thrilled to share the exceptional results from our school. Caswell's success is further amplified by our Dual Language Immersion Program. Research consistently shows that the cognitive benefits of bilingualism, including enhanced problem-solving skills and improved memory, contribute to students’ overall academic success.

Key Achievements:

  • Double-Digit Growth: Caswell 3rd to 6th graders achieved double-digit growth in both English Language Arts and Math, closely approaching the end-of-year goals set by the district. This means that many of our students are ahead of schedule in their learning, giving them a head start on mastery of higher-level concepts and skills.

  • Highest Attendance Rate: Caswell takes pride in having one of the highest attendance rates in the district remaining above 95% all year. This, along with a drastic 14% reduction in chronic absenteeism, has significantly contributed to this academic success.

  • Dedication to Data-Driven Instruction: Our teachers' commitment to working collaboratively in teams is known as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) these teams focus on data-driven instruction. This plays a pivotal role in achieving academic excellence. Continuous professional learning remains a cornerstone of our approach.

  • Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS): Caswell's commitment to supporting students with behavior challenges through PBIS has also contributed to the overall improvement. Building positive relationships with students and families continues to be a focus at our school.

  • Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS): Caswell embraces a Multi-Tiered System of Support, ensuring learning for ALL students through targeted interventions. MTSS is a comprehensive framework that identifies students' needs early and provides levels of support to address those needs. This approach allows us to cater to the unique requirements of each student, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Caswell Dual Language Academy extends its deepest appreciation to the students, families, teachers, and staff who have contributed to this remarkable success. Together, we continue to strive for academic excellence, fostering a learning environment where every student thrives.
