Varsity: Central Valley 3, Lathrop 1
The Hawks battled through the gusty winds and rain on their way to a WAC title clinching 3-1 win over the Lathrop Spartans. The CV goals were scored by Diego Ochoa, Alejandor Garcia, and Anantah Sinvogxay. This win brings CV’s overall record up to 15-6-6 overall, 10-1-2 int the WAC. This win also clinched the league title as the Hawks are your 2025 WAC Champs! CV will finish up the regular season next Tuesday night at Ceres High in the crosstown showdown at 6:15pm. The Hawks are currently ranked #7 in the SJS DI poll and hope to slide up a few spots once the rankings reset over the weekend (which will factor in our last 2 wins). The playoff brackets will be released late Wednesday afternoon and the first round of the playoffs will take place on Wednesday, February 19th.
Girls Soccer
Varsity: Central Valley 9, Lathrop 0
The Lady Hawks continued their dominance in WAC play with a shutout over the Lathrop Spartans. The stormy weather did not deter the Hawks in any way as they dominated from start to finish. This win pushed CV’s overall record up to 19-2-1 and 12-1 in the WAC. Our 2025 WAC champion girls team will wrap up the 2025 regular season in the crosstown showdown against Ceres High next Tuesday at 3:00pm at River Bluff Park. The playoffs brackets for the girls post on Wednesday afternoon as well and their first round playoff game will be on Tuesday, February 18th.
Girls Basketball
Varsity: Johansen 42, Central Valley 39 (OT)
The Hawks dropped an absolute heart-breaker last night in overtime to the Johansen Vikings. CV led by 3 with just 5 seconds remaining, but luck was on the side of the Vikings as they were able to hit a 3 at the buzzer and push things into overtime. Unfortunately, it was the same story in overtime, as Johansen broke the tie score with yet another last second 3-pointer. The girls battled until the end and gave a noble effort last night. The Hawks will look to pick up a win in their next contest which takes place next week. CV will host the Lathrop Spartans on Tuesday, February 11th on Senior Night at 7:30pm.
