Next week is Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Week at Caswell! But what exactly is SEL?
Social-Emotional Learning focuses on helping students develop five key competencies:
1️⃣ Self-awareness 2️⃣ Self-management 3️⃣ Social awareness 4️⃣ Relationship skills 5️⃣ Responsible decision-making
During SEL Week, we'll be exploring the Zones of Regulation, a framework to help students understand and manage their emotions:
🔵 Monday - Blue Zone: Feeling sad, tired, or sick. We'll be wearing blue to support this zone. Activities include exercise and enjoying blue Gatorade at lunch.
🔴 Tuesday - Red Zone: Feeling angry, nervous, or overwhelmed. We'll be wearing red to acknowledge this zone. Activities include calming coloring at lunch.
🟡 Wednesday - Yellow Zone: Feeling anxious, frustrated, or excited. We'll be wearing yellow to embrace this zone. Activities include yoga and receiving breathing stickers at lunch.
🟢 Thursday - Green Zone: Feeling happy, calm, or focused. We'll be wearing green to celebrate this zone. Activities include listening to music and receiving stickers at lunch.
🏰 On Friday, let's join together for a Disney dress-up day to celebrate learning about our emotions through Pixar's Inside Out!

At Caswell, we're all about rewarding positive behavior! 🌟 Our students earn Cougar Cash for showing respect, responsibility, and safety. Every Friday, they get to cash in their hard-earned Cougar Cash for some awesome rewards!
They can choose to shop at our Den student store, where they can snag $1 items like school supplies and fun goodies. But the excitement doesn't stop there! 🎉 Our students also have the opportunity to exchange their Cougar Cash for unique experiences with staff members.
From enjoying a McDonald's lunch with Mrs. Marshall and Mr. Maldonado 🍔🥤 to crafting calming jars with Mr. Josh 🌈 and assisting Ms. Norma in the front office 📝, there's something special for everyone!
